VenturesPlus Consulting Group

The consulting group consists of Carlson School MBA students and alumni, many of whom are working in corporations as managers, directors or CEOs. They either are leaders, or are future leaders in their organizations.  They are part of the V+ consulting team since they are interested in becoming entrepreneurs or working with entrepreneurs/small businesses.

Success stories

David Crane, a Carlson Executive MBA graduate, is the founder and CEO of IntelAccount, Inc., an early stage company providing accounts payable and vendor management services to small to middle market companies.  David inquired with Ventures Plus about getting help with various projects including building financial projections and financial statements for investor documents, and crafting operations process flows to maximize efficiency of the overall business model.  Adam Koering, a Carlson part-time MBA student and a leader on the V+ consulting team, was selected by David amongst several resumes provided by V+. 

Adam is a CPA and is focusing his MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship, so the match to IntelAccount’s needs was very clear.  Adam helped IntelAccount build flexible financial statements and projections that will assist in raising capital for the business and in performing sensitivity analysis to changing financial inputs.  David used the main financial model as part of the Company’s investor documentation to raise $350,000 in seed capital from angel investors and strategic partners.  In addition, David invited Adam to join IntelAccount’s Board of Advisors to help define the strategic direction of the Company.  In return, Adam and David negotiated an at-risk compensation package consisting of a combination of cash and stock options based on the venture being funded.

Minimal Finders-Fee

There is a small fee of $150 for keeping up the Ventures Plus infrastructure up and running. This fee will be charged when you decide to work with a V+ consultant. This fee is a finders fee for V+ and not a compensation for the consultant. You will be working out the terms of engagement including compensation directly with the consultant.  Some examples of compensation arrangements used in the past are 1) Stock Options offered for hours worked 2) Per hour rate agreed upon and payment promised upon funding of the venture only.  3) Per hour cash payments with maximum payout/hours worked agreement ahead of time for particular deliverables.  4)  Some V+ consultants have chosen to work on projects for the learning experience only and without any compensation.
